May 13th – Come welcome our 8th graders as they are welcomed into membership on Confirmation Sunday at the 9:00 AM Wesley service. Following the service, plan to meet in Fellowship Hall for a welcoming reception at 10:10 AM.

May 20th – Graduating Seniors will lead the 9:00 AM Wesley Service in honor of their graduation. Following the service, there will be a Senior reception coffee time in Fellowship Hall starting at 10:10AM. Our regular office hours are Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM - Noon and 1-4 PM.  Other times are by appointment only.

     Why do we pray? Is it to try to get God to do what we want God to do? Is prayer about what Janis Joplin sang, “Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz?” Is God like a big Santa Claus in the sky and prayer like sitting on Santa’s lap in the big department store? If you are like me, you recognize that this often seems to be how we approach prayer and there’s recognition that this is unhealthy.

   Every Sunday throughout the year, our 9:00 AM Wesley Service is broadcast on KBOE 740AM as well as our 4:00PM Christmas Eve service. We provide this ministry as an outreach for not only our homebound members, but for the community as well. We offer the opportunity for people to sponsor a live broadcast each week, with the sponsorship being in honor or memory of a person or event. Cost of a sponsorship is $125 and is a tax deductible donation to the church. There are many opportunities in 2012 (and future years if you wish to plan ahead!) to sponsor a broadcast.  30 HOUR FAMINE: $1,150 raised for Bangladesh children + 275 food items gathered for Oskaloosa Ecumenical Food Cupboard + 23 EPIC fasting participants + a yummy meal of corn meal mush = TOTAL SUCCESS!!!

 We have had a wonderful first year of EPIC Youth Group. As with any new programming, we have learned many things. Some of our ideas have worked - some not so much. :) Our last EPIC Youth Group will be held Sunday evening, May 6, 2012. Join us!!

 Youth Advisory Council will also meet Sunday May 6, 2012 following 2nd service in the Cornerstone Classroom to discuss programming for EPIC Youth during the summer months and next fall. All adults and youth welcome to attend! Your ideas are greatly appreciated. Our EPIC Youth Group is definitely a work-in-progress! We want your input! We will order pizza so bring a couple bucks!
